The Ohio Poultry Association (OPA) announced its 2025 award recipients during their annual celebration banquet held on Sept. 11 in Columbus. This year, OPA presented the Golden Egg Award, Golden Feather Award and two Rising Star Awards. In addition, OPA honored 20 individuals for their leadership and resilience during the Ohio Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak.
"This year, OPA was pleased to honor 24 individuals for their hard work and dedication to continue advancing the poultry and egg industry," said Jim Chakeres, OPA executive vice president. "Our Golden Egg Award is awarded to an individual who is committed to advancing the mission and values of Ohio's egg, chicken and turkey farmers, our Golden Feather Award is given to an individual who has positioned themselves as a champion of poultry, livestock or other agricultural issues, and finally, the Rising Star Award honors the early career success of young leaders in Ohio's poultry farming community."
OPA also honored a group of individuals who provided assistance during this year’s difficult battle against avian influenza.
