Residents of 19 Ohio counties will be mandated to wear a mask when out in public, Gov. Mike DeWine announced during a briefing Thursday as the state reported its ninth straight day of more than 1,000 new cases.
Any county designed "Red Level 3 Public Health Emergency" in the state's alert system used to identify high-risk counties for COVID-19 would be required to wear face coverings in public.
Athens, Delaware, Licking and Union counties were among the areas that were bumped up to a "Level 3" this week due to a high risk of coronavirus exposure and spread.
