JobsOhio Releases Q2 Review of Ongoing Activities

It touted job growth, new initiatives and employment attraction practices

After six months of statewide listening sessions, roundtables and strategy summits, the agency is ready to embark on a roadmap for the next five years. JobsOhio 2030: Let’s Grow, Together moves from theory to execution:

  • Capitalizing on dynamic "super sectors"
  • Expanding on Ohio as the "Silicon heartland"
  • Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities
  • Addressing critical talent needs, and
  • Amplifying innovation through the "Ohio Discovery Corridor"

Terry Slaybaugh, JobsOhio's vice president of sites & infrastructure, highlighted the Ohio Site Inventory Program's success, transforming 109 properties into 18 million square feet of project-ready commercial space and over 7,300 acres of site development, bolstered by the All Ohio Future Fund.

Dana Saucier, JobsOhio's vice president of head of economic development, shared how recent 21st Century energy legislation is significantly reducing operational costs and accelerating project approvals, driving substantial investment and powering statewide economic momentum.

Addressing Ohio's growing talent needs, Kristi Clouse, JobsOhio's senior managing director of talent, introduced the JobsOhio Relocation Incentive (JORI), providing companies $15,000 per out-of-state hire in priority sectors. JORI strategically targets fresh STEM talent, discourages in-state poaching of employees and supports inclusive hiring practices, previously referred to as DE&I, reinforcing Ohio as a leading destination for skilled professionals.
