Once Again, Small Businesses are Facing a Government Shutdown

Lawmakers need to reach a spending agreement

Another government shutdown looms over Congress unless lawmakers can cobble a deal together before the end of the week.

President Joe Biden invited top lawmakers to visit the White House on Tuesday to negotiate a spending package that would help avert a government shutdown. If lawmakers don't ink a deal, the government is on track to partially close come Saturday, and fully close by March 8.

"We are mere days away from a partial government shutdown on March 1," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) wrote in a letter to his Senate colleagues over the weekend. "The extreme Republican shutdown will endanger our economy, raise costs, lower safety, and exact untold pain on the American people."
