Husted Announces November 2023 TechCred Results

The current application period closes Jan. 31

Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as the director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation, recently announced 398 employers were approved for funding through the November round of TechCred, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 5,925 tech-focused credentials. This round marks the most credentials approved in a single funding round, surpassing the previous highest of 5,289 credentials in September 2023.

"If you want to advance your career skills and improve your job security and earning power, TechCred is a no-cost solution for any Ohioan to advance their career," said Husted. "It also is a great tool to give Ohio employers the ability to build the best workforce in the nation."

TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by funding training opportunities to upskill current or prospective employees. Businesses of all sizes from any industry are eligible to receive up to $30,000 per application period and up to $180,000 per year in reimbursement when credentials are earned. This round, Artificial Intelligence (AI) credentials were one of the top credentials requested, highlighting the need within the business community for AI-related training for their workforce.

The current and 24th application period for Ohio employers opened Jan. 2, 2024 and closes Jan. 31, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Apply now by visiting TechCred.Ohio.Gov.

"In an ever-changing, tech-driven economy, Ohio is creating a dynamic and agile workforce," said Lydia Mihalik, the Ohio Department of Development's director. "TechCred offers a streamlined approach to talent acquisition and retention, saving time in recruitment and fostering a culture of continuous learning."

"Helping businesses to have continued success while preparing workers to meet changing workforce needs has been a winning formula for TechCred, and a big reason it continues to grow," said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Mike Duffey.
