Houthis Vow to Continue Red Sea Attacks after U.S. Strikes

The Houthis have carried out 27 attacks on ships since mid-November

The strikes carried out by the United States and Britain against Yemen’s Houthi militants appear to have “had good effect,” the Pentagon's press secretary, Maj. General Patrick Ryder, said Friday, as the Iran-aligned group pledged to continue its attacks on shipping to protest Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

Speaking to MSNBC on Friday, Ryder said the strikes “were very deliberate, very focused on degrading and disrupting the ability of the Houthis to conduct these kinds of strikes in the future.”

The Houthis have carried out 27 attacks on ships since mid-November, he said. "In early January, 14 nations and the United States all issued a warning to the Houthis that this type of illegal and reckless activity needed to stop or there would be consequences. And last night, there were consequences."
