When Correcting Your Boss, Practice Care

Certain phrases share three problems

Nobody really likes being corrected. And that typically goes double for bosses, who often assume that any criticism they receive will come from above them, not below. In fact, many bosses do not even respond constructively when employees share their problems - let alone correct the boss.

I recently conducted a study called "The Risks Of Ignoring Employee Feedback" that involved 27,048 executives, managers and employees. And what I discovered, among other things, is that not many leaders respond constructively when their employees share their problems.

Only 23 percent of people say that when they share their work problems with their leader, he/she “always” responds constructively, while 17 percent say their leader “never” responds constructively.
