Tesla Recalls Nearly All Vehicles Sold in U.S. to Fix an Autopilot Fault

The recall affects more than two million vehicles

Tesla is recalling more than two million vehicles, nearly all of the vehicles it has sold in the U.S. to date, to fix a flawed system designed to make sure drivers are paying attention when they use Autopilot.

Rather than physically recalling vehicles, documents posted today by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) state that Tesla will send out a software update in an attempt to fix the problem.

The recall covers nearly all of the vehicles Tesla sold in the U.S., including the Model X, Model S, Model Y and Model 3, and impacts those produced between Oct. 5, 2012, and Dec. 7 2023.
