If you aren't familiar, a Formula 1 team principal is like a chief operating officer. Or, in pro sports terms, like a combination of a head coach and general manager. Where on-track performance is concerned, the buck stops with the team principal.
And so, in large part, does the pressure. While every business is in effect a scoreboard venture (with the "scoreboard" being a P&L statement), professional sports are the ultimate scoreboard business: wins, losses.... Your team's performance -- ultimately, your performance -- is on display for everyone to see.
