The labor crunch -- while slowly softening -- continues to plague companies, with 40 percent of small-business owners still struggling to fill positions in August, according to the latest survey from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Overall, owners are feeling pretty pessimistic.

In these conditions, the resources that entrepreneurs need for business growth -- like loans and legal support -- might feel out of reach. Fortunately, they can seek support not just from online resources and government programs but from nonprofit organizations as well. By offering free or more accessible resources, nonprofits can provide owners with funding, connections, and educational tools that can help them grow their businesses.
