Biden Announces New Aid Package During Zelensky Meeting

It remains unclear how Congress will respond

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden greeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday afternoon as he arrived for the Ukrainian leader’s third visit to the White House.

Earlier in the day, Zelensky met with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon and with lawmakers at the Capitol.

The Biden administration is seeking approval from Congress for an additional $24 billion in aid to Ukraine, but it announced that the United States would send “more artillery, more ammunition or antitank weapons” to the country. And next week, the first U.S. Abrams tanks will be delivered to Ukraine.
