August 7, 2020

Current updates on association response to the global COVID-19 crisis, along with a roundup of conference, travel and business news and information.

Udderly Good timing for Milk Campaign
“Got milk?” The question, first posed to American consumers in 1993 by the California Milk Processor Board, is being asked again by the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP).

The pandemic has seen people reaching for familiar comforts—and for many Americans, that means drinking more dairy milk. Sales had been lagging thanks to the rise of dairy alternatives like almond- and soy-based beverages. But retail milk sales were up 8.3 percent from January through July 18. (Sales were down 2.3 percent during the same period in 2019.)

“I’ve been so inspired by how people have creatively embraced milk this year,” said Yin Woon Rani, CEO of MilkPEP, in a news release. “From whipping Dalgona coffee to running a mile with a glass of milk in-hand, today’s TikTok-ers are finding more ways to connect with milk. All the milk love inspired us to reimagine ‘got milk?’ for today’s social-first generation.”
