Outdoor Visitation at Ohio's Nursing Homes Begins Today

OHCA pushed for the move

Starting today, Ohio nursing homes are permitted to begin outdoor visitation, so long as all safety standards are met, state officials said.

The state's assisted living facilities and intermediate care facilities began to allow outdoor visitation in early June. Due to the success at those facilities, Governor Mike DeWine said his administration has decided to expand to the state's nursing homes.

The Ohio Health Care Association had pushed for safe visits amid the pandemic, saying separation from family and routines can be especially difficult for people with dementia and Alzheimer's.
