ASAE Wraps Up American Associations Week

Today, ASAE concluded its virtual fly-in event

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) concluded its virtual  American Associations Week 2020 (AAW) with a call for continued advocacy and outreach to legislative offices to help associations gain access to federal relief programs during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

ASAE has developed a community sign-on letter urging Congress to include 501(c)(6) associations in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), created to assist small businesses with payroll and other operational expenses during the pandemic. The letter also calls for passage of the Pandemic Risk Insurance Act of 2020, which would create a system of shared public and private compensation for business interruption losses resulting from future pandemics or public health emergencies, and the Skills Renewal Act, which would provide Americans who have been laid off or furloughed during COVID-19 a $4,000 tax credit to pursue post-secondary skills training and career development. The deadline to sign the letter is June 22.

AAW was developed as a free, virtual education and advocacy event for associations to get the latest intel on ASAE’s policy asks, engage with policymakers and participate in sessions on timely advocacy topics. ASAE logged more than 1,700 registrations for AAW sessions throughout the week and more than 900 associations to date have signed on to ASAE’s letter to Congress.
