Coronavirus Tracker: Association Connects Small Business With Student Support

June 2, 2020

Current updates on association response to the global COVID-19 crisis, along with a roundup of conference, travel and business news and information.

Student Support for Small Businesses
Many small businesses have been challenged with developing effective online operations to help them survive the pandemic. Meanwhile, college students who had planned on summer internships are at loose ends after those opportunities were canceled.

The Association for Information Systems (AIS) saw a way to bring those two groups together. AIS is working with universities around the globe to offer no-cost digital services to small businesses in need, such as website modification, system implementation, technology consultation and security assistance.

Nearly 20 universities in the U.S. and 10 in other countries will participate in the program, including Indiana University, the University of Georgia, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and George Mason University. Students will perform the work with oversight from faculty and professional mentors.
