Home-building Industry Can Solve Challenge of Housing the Vulnerable

The Building Industry Association of Central Ohio has represented the residential construction industry in the greater Columbus area for more than 75 years. Over that duration, one of the critical functions of our organization has been to drive awareness of the importance of housing upon our daily lives.

Throughout our organization’s existence, we have come up with some creative ways to make people think of housing. Still, I admit that no initiative has made residents think about their housing situation more than Ohio’s current stay-at-home order.

For many in our community, the current order has reinforced the need to remodel a room in their home to better accommodate work-from-home scenarios or to finally begin that kitchen remodeling project. For others, the recent events have confirmed a desire to move into a new home that better suits their needs.
