International Society of Explosives Engineer | Hybrid/Cleveland, OH

Position Summary:

Founded in 1974, the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) is a professional member-based association serving drilling and blasting professionals, companies and stakeholders who serve industries including mining, quarrying, construction, pyrotechnics, avalanche control, demolition and more. As an international organization, ISEE hosts the largest annual international conference, provides education and training opportunities and creates networking opportunities for its members. ISEE's subsidiary, the Society of Explosives Engineers Education Foundation (SEE Education Foundation), has provided more than $1million in scholarships to students pursuing degrees that will further advance our industry.

ISSE is seeking a bookkeeper/office manager to join our organization. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records for our company, depositing payments, paying bills, managing payroll and ensuring our month-end actuals are timely and accurate.

Responsibilities:

  • In-person weekly meeting with CEO to review financials information, cut checks and discuss upcoming activity.
  • Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes and other financial reports.
  • Receive and open mail.
  • Responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Timely deposit of checks and payment of bills.
  • Enter all employee payroll information into portal to ensure staff is paid correctly and on time.
  • Work with the SEE Education Foundation to provide scholarships to award recipients.
  • Work with staff leads in conference, membership, publications and journals to ensure correct capture of revenues and expenses.
  • Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets.
  •  Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements.
  • Create new processes to improve financial efficiency.
  • Report analysis and findings to management team.
  • In-person on-boarding at our office with our external accounting firm.
  • Travel time away from home is required for this position.
  • December team meeting in office to prepare and pack for annual conference (up to one week).
  • Attend the annual conference (end of January 2025).
  • Attend in-person team meetings 2-3 times a year (1-2 days each).

Qualifications:

  • Previous/current experience as a bookkeeper or in accounting is a requirement for consideration.
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience using current computer accounting programs and reporting tools, such as QuickBooks Online.
  • Experience using databases to input and export data.
  • Detail and deadline-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with business unit leaders to ensure revenues and expenses are allocated correctly.
  • This is a full-time hybrid position with a minimum of two days in the office. The person selected for the position can be in the office more if they desire.
  • We do not permit employees to have other full-time positions while working for ISEE.
  • Final candidate will need to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Salary: $58,000-$65,000 DOE
