Nov. 20, 2020

Coronavirus cases continue to rise in Ohio as the state reports another record-high number of cases in a 24-hour span.

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 8,048 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases and 377 hospitalizations. Meanwhile, thousands of reports are still pending review.

"We made a decision to double-check all antigen test results," said Governor Mike DeWine at yesterday's coronavirus briefing. "Our data team tells us there are 12,000 antigen tests that have not yet been double-checked. Most of the 12,000 are expected to be confirmed."

He added that while testing has gone up 43 percent in the last month, cases have increased 299 percent.

ODH also reported 318,151 confirmed cases, 5,578 deaths and 23,615 hospitalizations. The department also reported 220,281 presumed recoveries.

ODH also reported 17,272 probable cases and 377 additional deaths under an expanded case definition of COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
