OSBA Recognizes Former Perry Prosecuting Attorney

Allen was honored for 50 years of service of the profession

One of the three attorneys recognized by District 9 during the recent Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) was former Perry County Prosecuting Attorney John R. Allen of Crooksville.

Allen was honored for 50 years of service to the profession. He earned his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and began practicing law in 1968.

In private practice he worked as an associate with Athens firm Lavelle & Yanity from 1968 to 1972, practiced solo from 1971-72, practiced as a Partner with New Lexington firm Flautt & Allen from 1972 to 2001, and then founded Zanesville firm Allen & Baughman with his daughter, where he continues to work. He also worked in the Perry County Prosecutor’s Office from 1972 to 2001 including three terms as an elected prosecutor and served as President of the Perry County Bar Association.
