Association Advocates Storm the Hill

More than 30 states, including Ohio, trekked to Capitol Hill today for American Associations Day 2018

Association advocates from more than 30 states trekked to Capitol Hill yesterday for American Associations Day 2018, ASAE’s legislative fly-in. Among the states present was Ohio and its delegation.

The fly-in participants shared personal stories of how their associations use non-dues revenue to fulfill their mission, and shared statistics that support the power of associations and the many contributions they make to society.

The American Associations Day message was amplified again this year through a social media tool called Thunderclap. Participants in ASAE’s #AssociationsStrengthenAmerica Thunderclap shared a message on their social media channels today about the millions of association professionals in every industry and sector collectively working to enrich lives around the globe. The Power of A Thunderclap had a social media reach of nearly 286,000 people.

At an ASAE Board reception at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill on Wednesday evening, ASAE presented Sentinel Awards to Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Rep. Scott Taylor (R-VA) for their support of associations. ASAE also presented Wendy Kavanagh, CAE, president of the Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE), with ASAE’s Association Political Leadership Award, for her stalwart support of ASAE’s advocacy agenda and for sharing The Power of A message with elected officials in Georgia and around the country.
