Dean Ringle Named New Executive Director of CEAO

He served as the county engineer for Franklin County for 17 years

The County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) is pleased to announce Dean C. Ringle, P.E., P.S., as the new executive director of the association, effective July 1, 2017.  Please see the attached press release.

Ringle has worked at the Franklin County Engineer’s Office for more than 36 years, with the last 17 years serving as the Franklin County Engineer.  During those years, he has served in various capacities and on various committees for CEAO, in addition to being recognized as the 2011 County Engineer of the Year by CEAO and the 2013 National Urban County Engineer of the Year by the National Association of County Engineers.

Ringle is one of the most highly respected public officials in the Central Ohio region, and he is widely respected across the state and the nation.  Ringle is an outstanding professional leader and, as CEAO noted in a press release, they are extremely fortunate to welcome him as the new CEAO executive director.

The announcement follows Ringle's retirement from his Franklin County elected role.  He plans to retire in June so he can collect his state pension but also become, starting July 1, the executive director of the County Engineers Association of Ohio, a private entity.

“Sometimes,” Ringle said Thursday, “when an opportunity comes along, you have to take a look.”

The Franklin County Engineer’s Office has a $58.6 million budget this year. It is responsible for building, maintaining and repairing the county’s road and transportation system, including inspecting the county’s bridges

Ringle said he will retire sometime in June, giving up his $131,000 annual salary to work with the private association, where he will continue to work with other county engineers. Because the association is in Columbus, Ringle won’t have to move.
