Ohio, ASAE Join Lawsuit to Nix Obama Overtime Rule

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court

Ohio is among 21 states that have sued the U.S. Department of Labor over a new rule that would make about 4 million higher-earning workers eligible for overtime pay, slamming the measure as inappropriate federal overreach by the Obama Administration.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Eastern Texas on the same day that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and more than 50 other business groups filed a legal challenge against the regulation. Please click here to read the complete article from The Columbus Dispatch.

In addition to the state of Ohio, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce lawsuit challenging the overtime rule. The complaint can be found here. ASAE is also encouraging its grassroots network to contact their representatives in Congress to ask them to support H.R. 5813, the Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act. This bipartisan legislation would give associations more time to adjust to the new standard while also making sure workers are fairly compensated. Nearly 1,000 emails have been sent through ASAE's grassroots portal to Congress on the issue. To learn more, please visit ASAE's Power of A issue page
