Sales Manager - State Associations
Greater Columbus Convention Center
SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Sales Manager at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
- Responsible for assigned sales duties focusing on the Ohio State Association and Ohio government markets for Columbus. This person would work closely with our partners at Experience Columbus, the Convention Visitors Bureau, to retain annual groups and to seek new opportunities for business with these sectors
- Works in coordination with area hotels to promote the partnership in guest rooms and large meeting space at the Center
- Maintains records, prepares proposals and license agreements as well as correspondence related to events and facility use
- Conducts tours of the GCCC
- Prepares monthly event status reports
- Attend industry trade shows and conferences
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university. Additional years of experience may serve as substitute on basis of two (2) years experience for one (1) year of college.
- Two (2) years of direct hotel or convention center type sales. Proven work experience that demonstrates: strong skills in oral/written communications, ability to make presentation and maintain effective public relations.
- Ability to make presentations and maintain effective public relations.
This position requires the ability to interact with all types of people. Must be able to get along with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors to the facility. This position requires the ability to respond politely to all individuals and work well as a team player.
Knowledge of youth, adult, amateur and professional sporting events is a plus, but not mandatory.
Work hours can be irregular (including evenings and weekends) and will include some travel on company business.
