Member Engagement Manager

The American Ceramic Society is recruiting a Member Engagement Manager to join our team in early September. The qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years relevant, progressively responsible experience, in a similar membership capacity. This position provides support to division members and leadership, implements and manages the annual awards programs, including the annual award banquet, and includes membership marketing and implementation of recruitment and retention programs. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Director of Membership, located in the ACerS’ Westerville, Ohio, headquarters office.
The Member Engagement Manager provides member value, high energy, and inspiring leadership in developing and implementing initiatives to drive results in member growth and retention, both of which are critical to the success of ACerS. Continually improve the standard of service ACerS delivers to Society members; serve as staff liaison to divisions. Implement and manage annual awards programs; build a rewarding, productive, and integrated volunteer structure and culture by recruiting and managing volunteer communications and activities. Increase each member’s sense of ownership in and excitement about ACerS and their desire to contribute to and draw from the Society’s ceramic knowledge base by developing innovative member programs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bachelor degree with 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in association management, member services, and/or volunteer recruitment and managemen
- Be responsible for data management and integrity
- Experienced in association management systems (AMS) to collect and organize member information
- Plan, execute, and achieve membership recruitment, retention, revenue, and services goals
- Develop tools and feedback mechanisms to gauge member satisfaction
- Research and identify prospective members
- Identify and develop strategies to retain members, and to increase member retention
- Recommend membership policies and procedures, and implement them as approved
- Implement and manage the annual volunteer awards and recognition program by working with the various award committees to promote and collect nominations, work with award vendors in the commission of awards, coordinate the annual honors and awards banquet
- Understand basic budgeting and expense management
- Strong analytical, writing, editing, presentation and communication skills
- Strong computer skills, proficiency with MS Office products and data management
- Travel required to ACerS meetings and conferences
